QUEENZY TOY CO.
Qingzi Gao
As a fashion designer, Queenzy is interested in using her work to illustrate her identity and her thoughts on her surroundings. Her thesis project focused on her personal ties and reflections on mass production made famous by her home country of China. Her childhood is filled with the fondest memories of plastic toys and accessories. Mass production uses materials that would otherwise end up in the ocean and are instead affordable and cherished items.
Queenzy has produced four collections to date. One of these collections was awarded the Hong Kong Best Prize for The Eco-chic Design Award 2017 and the collection promoted sustainability in the fashion industry by deconstructing second-hand clothes. http://www.ecochicdesignaward.com/alumni/ 2017/gao-qingzi
For another collection, Queenzy examined the relationship between a man and his virtual lover and it was featured during Chinese College Students' Fashion Week 2018 in the Polyu Fashion Show and was covered by Hong Kong press.
Queenzy sees fashion as a way to examine her surroundings and learn more about herself, and she is continuing her journey.
